Meet SunQueen Kelcey (Kelcey Ledbetter), the vivacious frontwoman leading the dynamic seven-piece band, SunQueen & The Soular Flares. Hailing from Greensboro, NC, their sound is a genre-bending collage of hip-hop, soul, rock, and contemporary R&B. Entering her 30s with vibrant energy, Kelcey embraces this new chapter, feeling "more motivated to learn, reach my goals and create happiness."

Her musical journey is deeply intertwined with her personal evolution. After navigating trauma in her teens, she rediscovered her passion by relearning the guitar at 21, eventually blossoming as a solo artist and the driving force behind the Soular Flares since 2017. For Kelcey, music is a reflection of growth, a path she walks with confidence and grounding.

SunQueen Kelcey is a fierce advocate for radical self-love and representation, proudly declaring, "I’m Black, fat, queer and fine as hell; and I’m proud to say that shit." This mission permeates their art. Their songs are a vibrant celebration of body positivity and radical self-love, encouraging listeners to embrace themselves fully. Kelcey's powerful lyrics, backed by the band's dynamic sound, create a shared experience that's as empowering as it is entertaining, especially evident in anthems like "Thick Thighs Save Lives," which intentionally celebrates "every plus-size baddie here and abroad."

She hosts the "Thick Girl World" podcast, creating a safe space for plus-size individuals to share experiences about "life, love, lust and all things in between." Additionally, she explores her creativity through skincare formulation and ancestral candlework.
